Yesterday’s game was really tight. The Blue Jays were able to create some traffic early but couldn’t do much past the 3rd inning. Corey Kluber, Andrew Miller and Cody Allen were sensational. It was Francisco Lindor that put his club up 2-0 with a homer.
Marco Estrada was great himself. He played a complete game giving up 2 runs. Baseball can be cruel at times. One bad pitch can change everything. But overall he had a good performance.
Today we have Josh Tomlin vs J.A Happ. J.A Happ has been as consistent as it gets, while Josh Tomlin has had a tumultuous season. J.A Happ was getting hit hard in his previous start against the Rangers. He managed to record a win but the damage Texas did was noticeable. Cleveland has players in their lineup that hit lefties well. We will see if J.A Happ can reduce his hard hit rate.
Josh Tomlin had a great outing in Boston. Many people were shocked that Tomlin was able to go as far as he did against the Red Sox at home in an elimination game. He’s had homerun issues due to his high fastball usage. Fastballs are what the Jays feast on. Tomlin doesn’t have the stuff Kluber has, which puts the Jays in a favourable position.
I had Cleveland winning yesterday’s game until the last second. I went with my heart instead of my head. The Jays will need to score runs against Tomlin before Cleveland’s bullpen comes in. This goes for Cleveland as well. Both teams have top 10 bullpens.
I love the Blue Jays matchup against Tomlin and it’s because of that I’m really confident the Jays win Game 2.
Prediction: Jays win 4-2
