Game 3 of the ALCS will feature Trevor Bauer and Marcus Stroman. Cleveland took a 2-0 lead by scoring only 4 runs. If you had told me this before the ALCS started, I wouldn’t have believed you. I wouldn’t have been able to believe that the Blue Jays couldn’t score more than 4 runs. But, these are the circumstances. Due to Cleveland’s incredible pitching, the Blue Jays find themselves down 2-0 heading home. Many thought they would at least get a split, but, that’s not the case.

Cleveland’s pitching only gave up an average of 5 hits and 12.5 strikeouts between Game 1 & 2. Their starting pitching and relief pitching have been incredible. Andrew Miller is the name on all the headlines. Out of 11 Blue Jay batters, he struck out 10. Blue Jay fans couldn’t have predicted a dip like this. The team went from hitting 3 home-runs in 1 inning to scoring only 1 run in 2 games. But, this is the postseason and you only get here if you have good pitching. We’ll see how the Jays counter tonight.

Trevor Bauer is up for Cleveland. He’s been solid for the Cleveland Indians. He will be making his first postseason start on the road today. He has favorable road splits. In fact, he plays better on the road. In his last 5 starts on the road, he’s 1-3, with 5.48 innings played, 6 hits, 3.4 runs and 5.6 strikeouts. He’s faced Toronto twice during the regular season. He’s pitched very well in both games. His performance today will be hard to predict. But his 1-3 record on the road could help the Jays.

It seems like Marcus Stroman hasn’t pitched in awhile, but, we all know he will be ready for this start today. In his last 5 home games, he’s averaged 6.4 innings, 5.4 hits, 2.8 runs, and 4.6 strikeouts. Against the Indians, he’s been incredible. He’s averaged 6.65 innings played, 6 hits, 1 run and 7.5 strikeouts. Based off the numbers, he’s been better on the road than at the Rogers Centre. But he’s come through many times in the postseason when the team needs him the most.

The information above tells us that this might be a bullpen game that has extra inning potential. Both teams have top 10 bullpens, so, runs could be hard to get. This is a must win for the Blue Jays. I have fallen victim to choosing the Jays because they’re my hometown team. But after looking at all the information objectively, I like the Jays to win Game 3 at home in a must win situation.

Prediction: I like the under and the Jays to win 3-2 in another tight game
